Color Penn State was released in August, 2017. The book was so well received, and I had so much fun creating it, that I wanted to do another one. I wanted to pick another university that I felt a connection to. Virginia Tech was an easy choice. I have several family members that attended Virginia Tech and helped advise me on what landmarks and images captured the essence of the school and its traditions. From my visits there, I loved the feel of Blacksburg and it reminded me a lot of my hometown of State College. Like with the first book, I tried to capture the beauty of the town, the Virginia Tech campus and the spirit of the Hokie community. I hope you enjoy it!
I use a mixture of complicated and simple designs in my books because as an adult, I still love to color as much as my children. I try to capture the unique beauty of the campus as well iconic images associated with the school. I do each drawing by hand so it takes a few months to complete the roughly 30 drawings I need for a book. The pages are double sided but I chose a slightly thicker paper that water-based markers will not bleed through. The double sided pages keep the cost down for the buyer.
